Sometimes (a lot!) it’s the kids who teach a lesson. My boys give me ideas often, and this is the most recent.
Boys are something else. No matter where they are, they can turn playtime into a game of war. Have you caught your boys playing war lately?
Today we were at the school playground, waiting for Jace’s Speech class to end. The boys made every play zone into a “base,” a “fort,” or “enemy lines.” They’re a trip!
How right they are, though it’s not a game.
Jesus is our home-base, our rock and security
(Matt. 7:24 – Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock),
God is our fort – our fortress
(Ps. 18:2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer ; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust ; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.).
And the enemy, though unseen, is everywhere, looking to destroy us
(1 Peter 5:8 – Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour).
Even though we are saved (therefore “safe”), he can try to use our sin nature to destroy our lives.
Check out this amazing song by Casting Crowns, about how Satan can sneak into our lives.
Gird up your armor, friends! And prepare your kids for the war daily.
God bless,
Jenn
