As a participant in Flyby Productions, I get opportunities to preview cool products, including books. This time, I got to read the Texas K-9 Unit Series Books 1-3: Tracking Justice and Detection Mission and Guard Duty. I only needed to read one book, but I couldn’t stop. 😉

The first book, Tracking Justice (Texas K-9 Unit Book 1), by Shirlee McCoy, drew me in with the story and the writing. It was really intense, sweet and realistic all in one. I was super impressed, and because I loved it so much, I had to finish the whole series.

The second, Detection Mission (Texas K-9 Unit Book 2), was a bit disappointing, because the writing style was very different than the first, and there were lots of simple grammar and punctuation mistakes. A run-through with a good editor should clean it up quickly. I did like the story though – I think I liked the relationship in this one the best.

The third, Guard Duty (Texas K-9 Unit Book 3), had less errors in it, but had a few more unrealistic situations than the other two. It was still a good story though. I really like Valerie’s character, and see lots of opportunities to delve further into her family’s relationship.

Overall, I think the series was great. Romance, adventure/mystery/suspense and adorable dogs, too! I loved that it was clean with no scenes I had to skip.

I hope I get to read the other books in the series soon. 🙂
