Please note that NetGalley provided me with a complimentary copy of this book for review purposes. I received no monetary compensation, and the following review is completely honest and entirely my opinion.
Some Like It Scot by Pepper Basham is a stand-alone novel. I saw Pepper mention it on her Facebook page and hopped on NetGalley to try to review it. I was so excited when I was accepted! And as usual, Pepper did NOT disappoint!
Katie Campbell is a collector of others’ tales and an excellent storyteller, mainly so she never has to reveal her own story. She fails to see her worth to other people and doesn’t think she’ll ever find love. She doesn’t realize how amazing she is, mainly because of her relationship with her mom. She can never stay in one place for long, choosing instead to find stories from around the globe.
Graeme MacKerrow is a lonely, creative man who thinks his chance at love has passed. As mentioned in my previous review, I’d fallen head over heels with Luke! But Graeme sure gave Luke a run for his money for the top swoony hero role!! Who wouldn’t fall in love with a creative, broody, handsome, loving Scotsman who raises his sister’s son as his own?!
When the two meet, sparks fly, but not in the best way at first. As often happens, the lead characters have a rough start, but as each opens up with their true selves, sharing their insecurities, needs, and passions, they fall in love. But everything is so complicated; will it all work out in the end?
This is a fun, quick read, but with meat to it, as usual. Pepper always has realism in her stories, so the characters go through pain and growth. Again, I’ll repeat that Pepper is an amazing writer. She infuses faith into her books so perfectly. Not preachy, but seasoned with scripture and love. Her characters are real people who are true Christians, not just in name only. Pepper Basham has a fan for life. She’s proven time and time again that if she has a book out, I MUST read it!!
