last night was our first expectant parents’ class. it was from 700 to 930. it was very fun, informative, but tiring. lol. jerry learned some nice massaging techniques. πŸ˜‰ the nurse who taught it has been doing it for years, so she talked fast, and was a little on the odd side. but i liked her. she let us out half an hour early, which we all loved. πŸ™‚ the class is about how to handle pregnancy (the aches, pains, etc), and also how the birth will be. it’s to prepare us for anything and to be able to expect anything in the birth. we know we won’t have a perfect birth. it’s a four-part class, and on the third night we will get a tour of the labor and delivery section in the hospital. i’m looking forward to that part. πŸ™‚ she’s also giving us a goodie bag of things each week. woohoo! gotta love free stuff! πŸ™‚ so far it’s a reminder of things i’ve read, but it’s also neat to HEAR it. since i’m a visual and audio learner, it helps me to hear it as well as read it. but for jerry it’s mostly new. i have tried to get him to read books about pregnancy and stuff, to no avail. so this is a lot for him. πŸ˜‰ anyway, i’m glad we’re taking the class. we are also taking a breastfeeding class and a newborn care class. i’m looking forward to those too. πŸ˜‰
thanks all for the kind words and congrats. we appreciate it sooooo much!!!
again i want to ask everyone to send me your snail mail to jerrynjenn at gigowski dot com. πŸ™‚ i think i found most everyone’s email that i had before.
there was something else i was going to write, but i can’t remember it now. thus is the way of the preggo brain. sigh.
well i hope everyone has a safe day and night.
hugs and blessings!

Classes are such a waste of time! Just get a few good books on what to do with the kid once it’s here. Because you will only be pregnant for a short time, don’t bother learning how to be that! Prepare yourself for what will happen in the hospital. I recomend an epidural. It’s safe, and it helps. Something no one ever fully explains to newly expecting women is what you’ll feel like after the birth when the drugs wear off. Big pain.Big time. Plan to do a lot of nothing for at least two weeks.

Another thing-once you get home, you will get company. People will come out of the woodwork to see the baby. It can be great, but be prepared for one thing-after about six months to a year, nobody will care anymore. No one will offer to babysit, people won’t coo over the baby, no one will bring presents anymore. This always happens, but it can be a shock if unexpected.

Good luck to you and yours!

I’m glad you enjoyed your class. We never took a class because everyone told me it was a waste of time and money. I’m glad I didn’t since I had a C-Section and didn’t need it anyway. I’ve watched so many Baby Stories on TLC and knew what was going on. My sister-in-law took the class with her first baby and she said it was pointless. She said she learned more watching A Baby Story on TLC than in the class! It’s kinda crazy, don’t you think? I think the best benefit to classes is that you get to meet other pregnant women and develop friendships.
I’m glad everything went well with your test and you don’t have GD. When I took the test, I took the orange and it wasn’t bad at all either. It tasted like Orange pop with a lot more sugar in it. They didn’t give me the sprite choice. They had a cola substitute.
Can’t wait to hear more updates!
    Take care!
    Amy Jo:)

I went to a couple of classes, and never went back, because I couldn’t stand how dopey the other women were! LOL!!!

If you enjoy the class, then go.

    Hugs, Allie.
