Homeschool Day is September 12, and to mark the occasion, Dolphin Tale 2 opened in theaters.

I had heard of Dolphin Tale, but had no idea there was a homeschool connection with it. It turns out that the people who run Winter’s aquarium are a homeschooling family!

Our family is anxiously waiting to see both of the movies now, and doing the curriculum made us even more excited. This curriculum is offered for FREE on Homeschool Movie Club. (They also have lots of other curricula made from movies.)

While there are tiny clips from the movie within the curriculum, none of the story is given away, so no spoilers. 🙂

The curriculum, written by Apologia author Sherri Seligson, is divided up into five lessons.
There are five videos and five corresponding lesson printouts. (Ink tip: I started on page 3 of each lesson, to avoid wasting ink.)
This is a mini curriculum, so it’s obviously not meant to cover a whole school year. It’s a fun extra to your science curriculum, a weekend study, or just an additional fun learning experience, especially for animal-lovers.

The boys loved the videos, and we re-wound a few favorite parts.
The printouts held their attention, and we did them all as a group, taking turns on filling things out.
Since they are artists, they really loved the finish the drawing pages, and enjoyed the information on the bottom of those pages.
They didn’t appreciate the map as much, lol.
The veterinarian part was interesting and something new.

We really enjoyed this curriculum, and plan to check out others offered from Homeschool Video Club, and again, can’t wait to see the movies.

Here’s a trailer from the movie:

Have you seen the movie? How about the first – did you ever see that one?

Do you think you’ll check out the curriculum for your family?

Be blessed,
Jenn

JennAbout Jenn: I’m a Christian wife to an amazing man (since 1998) and a stay-at-home-teaching mom to four special & incredible boys (born in 2004, 2005, 2007, & 2009). I’m messy and cluttered, but working on that (really, I am!). I’m a discouraged perfectionist and a classic procrastinator who probably has both ADD & Autism, so I tend to jump from topic to topic (and activity to activity) without notice. My Love Languages are Words of Affirmation and Physical Touch. I’m an INFP who enjoys friends but loves to be alone. I love getting and giving hugs, and encouragement is a Spiritual gift of mine that can too-easily be turned into the weapon of discouragement, if I’m not careful. I enjoy writing, singing, words, drawing, photography, digital creations, and reading. Oh, and pizza, tacos, and steak. Now I’m hungry. 1. Hi Jenn, I had a nice visit here tonight. I want to take my grandkids. I saw dophins this summer when we went whale watching. Thanks for sharing the video.

  2. I was wondering if you ever considered changing the layout of your
site? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say.
But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better.
Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or 2 images.
Maybe you could space it out better?

    1. Actually, yes, thanks for asking. We are working on a new layout at this very moment. It was going to go “live” today, but it probably won’t until tonight or tomorrow now.
